McVitie's Custard Creams

This product is ‘McVities’ ‘Custard Creams’ biscuits.
It is described on its packaging as: ‘Sandwich Biscuits with Vanilla Flavour Cream Filling’.
Apparently manufactured in the UK, the list of ingredients is: Flour (Wheat Flour, Calcium, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin), Sugar, Vegetable Oil (Palm), Dried Whey (Milk), Glucose Syrup, Wheat Starch, Raising Agents (Ammonium Bicarbonate, Sodium Bicarbonate), Salt, Natural Flavouring, Colour (Carotenes). It may also contain Sesame Seeds.
The packaging states that the ‘typical number of biscuits inside of a pack’ is 26.
Having had “Crawford’s” ‘Custard Creams’ a few years ago, I was looking forward to trying out the ‘McVities’ version.
When unwrapped, the biscuits on the right side of the packaging were badly broken, most of them having turned into ‘powder’ inside of the packaging. This was highly off-putting and unexpected (since I have usually had good experiences when ordering products from ‘Snackstar India’).
The ones I could taste (on the left side of the packaging; in their actual state) came across as ‘floury’. The ‘Custard Cream’ filling had the right amount of sweetness to it. It did come across as ‘Custard’-like, not merely ‘Vanilla’ as implied by the product description. However, it was not enough to overcome the ‘floury’ mouthfeel and aftertaste of the biscuits as a ‘whole’.
I cannot state if or not my experience is truly reflective of the product’s quality and flavour. I might have had a different experience altogether, had I received the biscuits in optimal condition.
That said, one is advised to exercise caution when ordering these biscuits online (irrespective of the shopping portal).
Overall, it is left to one’s discretion when considering the purchase of this product.
